This new live speaker series brings together music legends Alan Cross, Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols), and Kathy Valentine (The Go-Go’s) for an intimate evening of stories, conversation, and music. Join us for a rare chance to hear the icons who shaped rock music in their own words.
Alan Cross is an internationally recognized broadcaster, interviewer, writer, and music historian with over four decades in the industry. Best known as the host and creator of The Ongoing History of New Music, Alan has interviewed many of rock’s most legendary figures and helped shape Canada’s understanding of modern music culture.
In addition to producing and consulting for Toronto’s 102.1 The Edge and Q107, Alan has authored five books, penned a national music column for Global News, and spoken at hundreds of conferences and schools around the world.
Glen Matlock is a legendary British musician, songwriter, and founding member of the Sex Pistols, widely credited with co-writing many of the songs that defined punk rock. As the original bassist and a principal songwriter behind Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols, Glen helped launch a cultural revolution that reshaped music, fashion, and youth identity in the late 1970s.
Beyond the Pistols, Glen’s prolific career spans over four decades of musical exploration. He has recorded and performed with a diverse range of artists including Iggy Pop, The Faces, and his own projects like Rich Kids and the Glen Matlock Band.
Glen Matlock remains a living testament to the power of individuality and the spirit of rock’n’roll.
Kathy Valentine is a Grammy-nominated musician, songwriter, author, and a key member of The Go-Go’s — the first all-female rock band to top the Billboard charts by writing and performing their own songs, including their signature New Wave classic “We Got the Beat”. As bassist and co-writer on hits like “Vacation” and “Head Over Heels”, Kathy helped define a new era of women in rock during the explosive post-punk and new wave scene of the early 1980s.
Beyond her groundbreaking work with The Go-Go’s, Kathy has maintained a dynamic solo career and has collaborated with a wide range of artists across genres. She is also the author of the acclaimed memoir All I Ever Wanted, which was named one of the best music books of the year by Rolling Stone, NPR, and more.
An outspoken advocate for women in the arts, Kathy speaks and writes about gender, creativity, and resilience, often exploring how identity, adversity, and authenticity shape a life in music.
